Three rising bands. One memorable night. There are concerts, and then there are nights that feel like a milestone. Tonight may have been a celebration of the release of LGHTBRNGR’s debut EP, It’s Okay to Fall, but it felt more like the beginning of an exciting new chapter rather than simply another hometown show.
The evening opened with Omaha’s Find You Weightless, a band that had only played a handful of shows together at that point but each member has been a part of the Omaha music scene for years. You could instantly recognize their collective experience from the confidence they brought to the stage. The band delivered an emotionally charged alternative rock set combined with massive hooks, dynamic guitars, and honest lyrics.
Their energy was contagious, their stage presence felt natural, and they looked comfortable in front of the crowd. For such a newly formed band, they already show a lot of promise, and they’re definitely one to keep an eye on as they continue to develop.
Modern Tiger from Des Moines, Iowa, followed. The band were also celebrating a milestone of their own. Their upcoming EP, Transient Love, is set for release in July. This was my first chance to see them live, and they made an immediate impression. Their years together as a band showed through in both their musicianship and stage presence. Each member looked completely at home on stage.
As someone who’s first taste of a “local music scene” was Des Moines during the late 1990s, I was immediately taken back to an era when bands like 35” Mudder, Stone Sour, Smakdab, and Deadfront ruled the rock scene of Iowa’s capital.
Modern Tiger’s set was made up of songs for the moments between breaking down and breaking through. The band seems to have mastered blending atmospheric guitars, driving rhythms, and unforgettable melodies. They have a knack for turning vulnerability into something powerful. The band proved themselves song after song as they delivered a polished performance that won over plenty of new fans, including me.
By the time LGHTBRNGR took the stage, the crowd was ready. To celebrate the release of It’s Okay to Fall, the band confidently worked through the entire EP, giving fans the live debuts of “Turn the Lights Out” and “Clarity.” Their now-beloved cover of Justin Bieber’s “Ghost” also returned, proving once again why it has become a fan favorite. Rather than feeling like a novelty, the song has become an unexpected but fitting part of their live identity, with the audience singing right along.
What stood out most wasn’t just the new material, it was the band’s evolution over the past few years. Becoming known for their passionate live performances and anthemic post-hardcore sound, LGHTBRNGR has quickly become one of Nebraska’s emerging bands to watch. Their live performances showcase a band unafraid to pair raw emotion with huge, sing-along choruses.
The turnout reflected that growth as well. The crowd packed the room, sang along, celebrated and moshed to every song, creating the kind of atmosphere every local band hopes for when releasing new music.
I’ve been following LGHTBRNGR since their debut live performance in October 2024, and the band’s growth over the past two years has been remarkable. They’ve become tighter musicians, more confident performers, and far more comfortable commanding a stage. Every show seems to build on the last, and this EP release performance felt like the payoff for all that hard work.
If this show was any indication, It’s Okay to Fall is only the beginning. LGHTBRNGR has built a strong foundation, continues to refine its sound, and has the drive to keep improving with every performance. It’ll be exciting to see where they go next, because if the progression from 2024 to now is any indication, they’re just getting started.
