The band had a special day this past Saturday at Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, OH. Not only did they perform “Trenches” with DMC on stage, Pop Evil was able to bring up 13 Marines showcasing the Lima Company Eyes of Freedom Memorial to stand behind them during its performance.
The Marines held full size plaques honoring the 23 fallen men who served in the Marine Corps, Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines. “The guitar riffs screamed in my ear as the song started,” says Tony Storey SSGT-USMC, one of the Marines standing on stage. “The crowd seemed to be a rolling mass of people, jumping in unison, fueled by the energy of the band.”
Storey and the other Marines made their way to the stage, receiving an overwhelming amount of thanks and praise not only by the crowd, but the bands and crew as well. He continues, recounting his thoughts while looking out to 40,000 screaming fans, “In my mind, I thought, ‘People thank us for serving, so that they can enjoy times like this, but it’s because they enjoy times like this that we willingly fight for them. I see the rowdy crowd rocking out with Pop Evil, with DMC, being watched over by United States Marines, it personified this idea.”
POP EVIL is currently on the road with label mates AVATAR supporting the bill, all tour dates can be found here.
