It’s all been leading up to this. Dysart has given us an incredible story over the past 22 issues and honestly made us, the fans, care about Harbinger kids and where their lives in the Valiant Universe are going. That all changes with the series’ 23rd issue.
Death was never taken lightly in the 90’s Valiant Universe. It made the stories seem all the more real. Made so many of us invest more deeply in the characters and so many of those characters met their final end.  Dead means dead.
Henry’s art continues to astonish the readers. It’s the combination of Henry’s art and Dysart’s story that secure Harbinger continues to be one of the best books being published monthly. Harada’s battle with Sting is executed beautifully on an artistic level. I find myself rooting for the renegades each month, hoping that they stay a step ahead of Harada’s forces. The shocker of this issue isn’t what the Renegades will do to protect their own, it’s which character sacrifices their own life to protect the others and won’t make it to the 2nd year anniversary of the title.
It’s heart breaking. Bravo to the Valiant team! I can’t wait to see what Hell the Renegades rain down on Harada’s forces and how the teens deal with the death of one of their own.
5 out of 5!
