October 25th, 2024
CHI Health Center
Omaha, Nebraska
As they hit the road with Spiritbox, and Gorjira for their 30th-anniversary North America tour, Korn continues to bring nothing less than a powerful, unforgettable experience for fans.
No strangers to Omaha or the CHI Health Center, Korn dove into a setlist that showcased the full depth of a career that began with the release of their major debut release in 1994. For nearly two hours the band played iconic tracks like “Freak on a Leash,” “Blind,” and “Got the Life,” one of their latest singles, “Start the Healing,” as well as deeper cuts that hardcore fans appreciated.
From the start, the energy was electrifying. Jonathan Davis commanded the stage with his signature guttural vocals and the haunting bagpipe intro for “Shoots and Ladders” brought the crowd roaring to the edge of insanity. The band’s chemistry was unmistakable, showing off three decades of friendship and synergy. Newcomer Ra Diaz’s bass lines were punchy and drummer Ray Luzier brought a new level to the band’s raw sound. Founding members James “Munky” Shaffer and Brian “Head” Welch’s guitar riffs cascaded through the venue, filling the air with a dark, immersive sound that’s unmistakably Korn.
The production added another level to the show, with visuals that threw back to their classic album aesthetics, as well as a stunning light show that punctuated the intensity of each song. The Omaha crowd fed off the band’s energy, with mosh pits and headbanging in full force.
The 30th-anniversary tour is a testament to Korn’s enduring influence in the rock and nu-metal scenes. While some of us in the crowd where there 30 years ago, in High School, listening to “Clown” on cassette in homeroom, the arena was filled with fans who weren’t even born when Korn’s debut album was released.
The band continues to capture the angst and authenticity that made them legends, reminding the crowd why they’ve stayed relevant and powerful after three decades. Fans left buzzing, grateful for the journey through Korn’s evolution and eagerly looking forward to whatever the band does next.
