An Evening with Failure
Wild Type Droid Tour
June 9th, 2022
The Waiting Room Lounge
Omaha, Nebraska

The band is excited and humbled to formally announce the forthcoming Failure documentary film, arriving in 2023. A longer, 30-minute version of the film will be screened before we take the stage on our Summer 2022 tour.

I have a confession to make. Up until a few years ago, FAILURE had totally flown below my radar. When the band formed during the 90s, I was firmly in the grip of the nu-metal movement, and just starting to dabble with industrial metal music. I knew the band existed but my friends, who helped shape my musical tastes, hadn’t gotten the chance to introduce me to their albums. The band’s hiatus in 1997 pushed them even further back in my mind, and I hadn’t really paid attention until their fiasco with Pledgemusic.com in 2018. One thing I did know though was that the band was responsible for inspiring many of the bands that I was obsessed with. As the documentary the band played before their concert proved, FAILURE was a major influence for bands like Mastodon, Garbage, Paramore, Nine Inch Nails, TOOL and A Perfect Circle. While I expected the band’s documentary to be informative, I didn’t expect the preview to have testimonials from from the likes of Stone Temple Pilots founder Dean DeLeo, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, Butch Vig of Garbage, Troy Sanders of Mastodon, Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan, former A Perfect Circle guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, drummer Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe, and actors Jason Schwartzman, David Dastmalchian, and comedian Goddess Margaret Cho.
After the 30 minute documentary teaser, my interest was piqued, and that lead into a nearly two hour set from Failure.
Being my first time seeing the band, I had no idea what to expect.
It was incredible to see a nearly sold-out crowd of fans singing along and living in the moment while one of their favorite bands was on stage.
