The band’s name might be a bit ridiculous, but their music is not. I don’t think I’ve ever been more confused by a band, and I’m perfectly okay with that. Leave it to the Germans to export an amalgamation of metalcore, electronic, and deathcore grind rock. I don’t even know how to categorize these dudes, and that’s a good thing.
I have a hard time understanding English speaking metalcore bands, so these dudes screaming in German doesn’t change the fact that their songs are thrash heavy and really damn catchy. Don’t ask me to translate the lyrics because I can’t but I envy our European friends for being able to see these guys in concert. I imagine its a truly brutal show. The unique style proves that music, regardless of what language its in, is universal. I’ve been told that Europeans find music to be more of a religion than a hobby, and I get the sense that hearing WBTBWB’s Das Album tracks performed live would be a secular experience.
A quick Google search tells me that founding vocalist Tobi Schultka has been absent from the band for nearly a decade, and his reunion with guitarist Marcie Neumann in 2019 means the band will be going back to their roots with Das Album, and those roots run deep. Regardless of Shultka’s time away, he and Nuemann seem to have picked up right where they left off, and crafted an unbelievably bombastic piece of art.
