Kidneythieves
Zerospace Tour

Gabe’s Oasis, Iowa City, Iowa

Kidneythieves brought their blend of industrial rock, electronic textures, and dark atmospherics to Gabe’s Oasis in Iowa City on July 12, 2002, delivering an intense club performance during their Zerøspace era. With Free Dominguez commanding the stage and Bruce Somers driving the band’s layered sound, the group transformed the intimate venue into a hypnotic experience that felt both heavy and deeply melodic. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Gabe’s Oasis was the place to catch up and coming bands. Its hard to believe that Slipknot played the venue 3 times during their “Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.” and (The Crowz) Demo eras between 1997 and 1998.

The close quarters of Gabe’s allowed fans to experience Kidneythieves at their most visceral. Songs from Zerøspace resonated with a crowd that embraced the band’s fusion of electronic beats, soaring vocals, and hard-edged guitars. It was the kind of show that defined the early 2000s alternative and industrial scene, where passionate fans could see their favorite bands up close and feel completely immersed in the music.

More than twenty years later, the performance stands as a reminder of an era when small clubs like Gabe’s Oasis served as essential stops for touring bands and helped create unforgettable nights for Midwest music fans. These photos preserve one of those moments in time.
