X-O Manawar #7

Valiant Entertainment
Robert Venditti, Lee Garbett, Stefano Gaudiano, Moose Baumann

Robert Venditti’s updated, more modernized X-O Manowar continues to impress me. Venditti has taken one of the most admired characters created in the past 40 years and spun one of the most original stories around a hero who’s familiar with fans worldwide. Lee Garbett and Stefano Gaudiano are one of the best pencil and ink teams currently in the comicbook artist world and their amazing visuals compell Venditti’s story to beyond a visceral level.
Venditti also pushes the point that the danger of the Valiant Universe isn’t just about what’s happening currently. While evil corprations Toyo Harada’s Harbinger Foundation and the military/tech based Project Rising Spirit are known to Valiant fans, it’s the alien armada of The Vine, that threatens to destory the world. Hints of The Vine’s conquest of Earth were hinted at early on in the premiere issue of X-O Manowar, this issue shows us just how far back in the past The Vine has been seeding Earth with their alien spawn.
Oh yeah, and Ninjak’s battle with Aric peaks this issue. Can Ninjak be convinced that he’s working for a sinister alien race? How will Aric react to the fact that The Vine are willing to sacrifice Earth to prevent their most holiest of religious artifacts from falling into the wrong hands?
Stop wasting your time with the hardly uncanny books currently on the shelves. Valiant’s teams are putting out the best books that need to find their way into your pullfile.
