Is A Flyleaf Reunion With Lacey Sturm On The Horizon?

When the news broke it seemed to not only break hearts but most of the rock and metal corner of the internet as well. Its been over a decade since Lacey Sturm unexpectedly announced on the day of Flyleaf’s 3rd release, New Horizons, that she would be parting ways with the band. Soon after the release, she would play her final show with Flyleaf on May 20th, 2012 at the Palladium Ballroom in Houston, Texas.
The band went on to recruit Vedera vocalist and Missouri native Kristin May that same year. They would release Between the Stars in 2014, and continued to tour until May’s departure and the band’s indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Sturm would continue touring and releasing critically acclaimed music as a solo act, with the help of her husband, while Flyleaf’s other members seemed to scatter to the winds. Drummer James Culpepper, who needed his parent’s to also sign their recording label contract because he wasn’t yet 18 years old, left the music industry to become a furniture maker. Rhythm guitarist Jared Hartmann is now a realtor agent with his wife and continues to grow his family. Bassist Pat Seals has been in numerous bands since 2016, most recently the stoner rock band Greenbeard. Lead guitarist Sameer “Professor Bombay” Bhattacharya toured extensively with P.O.D. before forming Bella And The Dragon.
While a reunion was never officially off the table, none of the band members would confirm if anything was ever in the works. Keen-eyed fans are now weaving yarn through their cork-boards to crack the code that is the 2022 Blue Ridge Rock Festival TBA bands.

Various band member have recently been posting cryptic images and text on their social media outlets that could be hinting to a full fledged band reunion. The festival organizers recently released a full line-up poster in alphabetical order. The faux conspiracy theories lay with the “???????” listed under the letter “F” and the announcement that the mystery band is a reunion over a decade in the making.
Flyleaf were one of the most influential bands to come out of the 2010s, and their reunion would be the jolt of energy that the music and touring industry needs right now. I’m sure it won’t be long until we find out if the rumors are true.
