What If… T’Challa Became a Star-Lord?
Original air date 08/18/2021
Making his final appearance as T’Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa becomes intergalactic hero Star-Lord.
When a young T’Challa is accidentally taken from Wakanda by the Ravagers, instead of Peter Quill, another branch of the Multiverse grows. T’Challa, assuming the mantle of Star-Lord, causes several surprising changes in the galaxy.
Star-Lord’s adventure centers around a heist at The Collector’s home base of Knowhere, and features variants of Nebula, Thanos, Yondu, The Collector, Kraglin, Howard the Duck, and others.
As fun as the heist is, its the ramifications of Kraglin Obfonteri and Taser Face kidnapping the wrong child (because T’Challa has two see holes, two hear holes, and one eat hole, and all humans look alike), that really alters the course of this branch of the multiverse. T’Challa talks Thanos out of committing genocide in the universe, Korath the Pursuer is hired on as a Ravager, Nebula was never turned into a cyborg assassin by Thanos, the Black Order now works as bodyguards for The Collector, and no one was around to stop Ego the Living Planet from finding his half-Celestial son Peter Quill.
Easter Eggs abound in this episode. Various alien species are being held captive by The Collector, and Howard the Duck, and Cosmo the Dog finally get larger roles in the MCU. Josh Brolin, Karen Gillan, John Kani, Chris Sullivan, Kurt Russell, and Benicio del Toro each return to voice their respective character.
While Boseman was taken from this world far too soon, his lasting legacy will continue.
