THE GRAHAMS Take Their Love Story On The Road‏

Americana Duo THE GRAHAMS Take Their Love Story On  The Road Winter Tour Will Support Recently Released Riverman’s Daughter

When The Grahams began the process of writing Riverman’s Daughter, the album that they recently released on 12 South Records/RED Distribution, the real life couple took to the road, playing the biggest cities and the smallest corners of America’s Midwest in search of the stories they’d tell. On November 6, 2013 the duo will return to the road with 14 dates in support of the album, revisiting the bends in the road where the songs were created.
More than anything else in the Grahams’ body of work to date Riverman’s Daughter is a unified, fully realized concept album. Tucson Weekly states, “The Grahams interpret Americana by embracing traditional country and old-timey folk in a contemporary setting, but they avoid blindly re-creating these sounds.” Throughout their tours and travels, Alyssa and Doug Grahamwrote the 12 songs that comprise the work as they made their way along the Great River Road that parallels the Mississippi. They stopped in various juke joints, exchanging stories and playing music with the locals. At the end of their journey, they holed up in a houseboat in rural Louisiana where the Mississippi spills into the Atchafalaya swamp, and periodically invited friends and musicians onboard to help them hone the material.

Having met in the first grade, fallen in love as teenagers in the shadowy streets of New York City and grown into adults holding hands, The Grahams have spent their entire existence pointed at this release. They learned the craft of songwriting from the family fold in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, shaping their interest in traditional country and mountain bluegrass into an infectious blend of storytelling that resulted in songs of love, loss, yearning and the view from American roads less traveled.
The Grahams are more than just a band; they’re a love story.  As the band takes those songs to the stage, they’re not only presenting their songs to their listeners, they’re also sharing their life.
