Millennials and Xennials, rejoice! Co-headliners The Union Underground and Spineshank brought their “25 Years of Rebellion and Callousness” tour to the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 29th 2025. The tour is a celebration of the 25th anniversaries of The Union Underground’s …An Education In Rebellion, their debut and only full length album, and Spineshank’s sophomore release, The Height of Callousness. Fellow nu-metal veterans Adema, and up-and-comers Sicksense were support for the night.
The crowd was indicative of the album release date, 2000. Several people I’d talked to mentioned this line-up was a dream; the soundtrack of their high school days. Many expressed their appreciation to the Bourbon Theatre for bringing the show to town as they never had the chance to see The Union Underground or Spineshank “back in the day”. This wasn’t the first time Spineshank, and The Union Underground toured together. The two bands also co-headlined a North America tour in 2000.
The Millennial filled Bourbon Theatre manifested a youthful vibe with their fist pumping chorus chants and circle pits. Spineshank’s comments about the tour embodied a universal sentiment. When asked if they wanted to do a 25 year anniversary tour, they responded “does anyone give a shit about that?” The crowd made it evident they do give a shit. Fans demanded more and were treated with a 3-song encore before handing the stage over to The Union Underground.
The Union Underground provided matched energy and a set covering …An Education In Rebellion. They didn’t give us an encore, but they did treat us to a new song “Faith Collapsing”, alluding to an album release in the near future.
Thanks to 104.1 the Blaze for a perfect evening filled with nostalgia. It was something this Millennial subset of rockers needed and deeply appreciated.
