*EDITED* FILTER’s Richard Patrick Unsure of Band’s Live Continued Presence

For so many of us, Richard Patrick’s music with Filter helped to define a generation, and gave us an outlet to deal with the problems we all faced in life. After nearly two decades of writing music with the likes of Wes Borland, Amy Lee, Trent Reznor and Stone Temple Pilots’ Robert and Dean DeLeo, Patrick’s extreme touring schedule may be catching up with him.
Touring the band’s September 13th set in Deadwood, South Dakota, Patrick suffered a back seizure. Taking to Twitter, Filter’s frontman elaborated by tweeting,”Bad News.. My back just seized on stage and I’m not sure I can perform anymore.. #degenerativediscdisease”
Patrick’s DDD wasn’t something the musician brought much attention too, and I imagine he’s suffered in silence for many years.
Degenerative Disc Disease is the degeneration of one or more intervertebral disc(s) of the spine, often called “degenerative disc disease” (DDD) or “degenerative disc disorder.” It is a condition that can be painful and can greatly affect the quality of one’s life. Disc degeneration is a disease of aging, and though for most people is not a problem, in certain individuals a degenerated disc can cause severe chronic pain if left untreated.
Leaving his fans in shock by the statement, Patrick was quiet on social media for a few days. He tweeted on September 15th, “My back feels better.. I’m hitting all my doctors to zero in on what can be done. I think it might be a passing thing but we’ll see.” This news leaves in question whether or not the remaining dates of the The Anti-Folk Revival in Drop-D Tour will be cancelled or postponed.
We wish Rich a speedy recovery and hope for another two decades of touring!

EDITED!
Patrick tweeted today, Sept 17th, “My back is not going to keep me from the stage. I will die onstage if I have to.. Music is my God. I will never stop performing.”
