Hot on the heels of his Welsh Music Prize nomination BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT announces the release of his new single “Feel It” taken from his critically acclaimed album Make Me Believe In Hope. In addition, he’ll be coming to NYC’s Mercury Lounge (217 East Houston St., New York, NY 10002) on Wednesday, October 10th for a rare US performance and a DJ set the following night at Nowhere Bar (322 E 14th St # 1 New York, NY 10003). Described by the NME as “The boy Robyn in all but name”, and hailed in The Sunday Times Culture section as “A songwriter of extraordinary dexterity”, Bright Light Bright Light, released one of 2012’s most compelling debut albums, Make Me Believe In Hope. With rave reviews from the music press, broadsheets and blogosphere, and winning fans across the pop spectrum, including BBC Radio 1‘s Huw Stephens and musicians Ellie Goulding and Elton John, the Welsh songwriter’s album zeroes in on electro-pop’s devastating one-two of euphoria and alienation, elevated to greatness by killer choruses and depth-charged emotional heft. “I wanted to do something with more club euphoria” says Rod Thomas aka Bright Light Bright Light with regard to “Feel It.” “I’d heard Mykal Kilgore singing on a track Del [Marquis of Scissor Sisters] had played me, so I wrote some diva vocal lines and Mykal stepped in and added 3000% of fierce to the mix. C+C, Technotronic, the darker sides of Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys and Funky Green Dogs‘ ‘Fired Up’ were the kind of energies we wanted to channel with the track.” The six-track “Feel It” single will be released October 29, 2012 via The Blue Team/Aztec Recordsand features remixes by K Klass, Vinny Vero & Steve Migliore, along with the non-album cut “Good Times”. “Feel It” is taken from Make Me Believe In Hope which was recorded in London, L.A. and New York, and was co-produced by Rod Thomas with Andy Chatterley (Kylie Minogue, Kanye West) and Jon Shave (Jessie J, Girls Aloud). It was released on June 26, 2012 on The Blue Team / Aztec Records. # # # |
