Datsik, GRiZ, ODESZA, heRobust, Break Science And Others Remix Tracks From Pretty Lights’ A Color Map of the Sun, Which Is Nominated For A GRAMMY® Award For Best Dance/Electronica Album

Pretty Lights’ A Color Map of the Sun Remixes is out today. Derek Vincent Smith – aka Pretty Lights – invited producers from a wide stylistic spectrum to remix the tracks from his latest album, A Color Map of the Sun, which recently received a GRAMMY® nomination in the Best Dance/Electronica Album category.

 

The ODESZA Remix of One Day They’ll Know,” which hit No. 1 on HypeMachine, is one of the 16 tracks included on A Color Map of the Sun Remixes, which is availablevia iTunes, Amazon and all other digital outlets. As with all Pretty Lights releases, the album is also available in its entirety for download at no cost at www.prettylightsmusic.com. Since its conception in 2006, Pretty Lights has distributed more than 19 million album downloads at no cost to fans.

Rick Rubin has described Pretty Lightsas “the face and voice of the new American electronic music scene” and Rolling Stone praised A Color Map of the Sun as a “uniquely crafted, groove-centric head trip.” VIBE hailed it a “masterpiece” and Entertainment Weekly put the album on “The Must List.”To produce A Color Map of the Sun, Smithspent a year composing and recording music and vocals that emulated genres and time periods that spanned the last century, then pressed it to vinyl. He used that vinyl along with a massive custom built analog modular synth to createA Color Map of the Sun. The second disc of the double-CD set, entitled Live Studio Sessions From A Color Map of the Sun, contains 13 tracks from the recording sessions.

Pretty Lights performed the lead single, “Around The Block,” withTalib Kweli on “Conan” and “Let’s Get Busy,” another track from the album, has been heard regularly during ESPN’s College Football coverage this season. Tracks from A Color Map of the Sun have racked up more than two million cumulative plays on SoundCloud. Over 167,000 downloads of A Color Map of the Sun and nearly 50,000 downloads of Live Sessions have been distributed via www.prettylightsmusic.com. Since the album’s release in July 2013, Pretty Lights has played 46 shows, hitting five countries and playing to more than 350,000 fans in a mixture of headline and festival performances.
