In this era of near-constant turmoil, The Bellwether Syndicate’snew album – made over the last six years – seems prescient in retrospect and a perfect soundtrack to modern times.  Titled Vestige & Vigil, it offers a view of the world from two perspectives: Vestige – a celebration of what remains, and Vigil: an acknowledgement of what’s been lost.

Out TODAY – the album’s first single, “Dystopian Mirror” was written about a dear friend of the couple’s who lost his mind, and eventually his life, to drugs and alcohol. “I found that I was still grappling with the sense of loss and lingering anger about the whole thing years after the fact and, ultimately, all those feelings and emotions ended up coming out here, in this song. The lyric is meant to be coming from the voices inside his own head, during his descent into the realm of the unwell…” explains vocalist William Faith.  The song is a relentless assault of hard-edged guitars, buzzsaw synths and tribal beats that set the stage for a guided tour through a personal hell, spat out with sardonic conviction by your own internal monologue.

William, former member of seminal goth acts Christian Death, Mephisto Walz, Shadow Project and co-founder of Faith & The Muse, moved from his native Los Angeles to Chicago in 2010 to form THE BELLWETHER SYNDICATE with his wife, Sarah Rose Faith. Sarah aka “Scary Lady Sarah” is a well-known DJ and club promoter, with the longest-running goth event in North America called NOCTURNA at Metro in Chicago. The duo forms the nucleus of THE BELLWETHER SYNDICATE and also often DJs together as The PirateTwins.

Their 2018’s single “Republik” was called “a glittery piece of glamorous darkness…with William Faith’s crooning vocals and Sarah Rose smoothly cascading guitars,” by Post-Punk.com and was to lead to a 2019 release that never came.  Enter Vestige & Vigil  – a distillation of life in the modern age, made timeless by the deep truths conveyed in the work, whether by word or by note.
