The Devil Wears Prada
The Waiting Room Lounge
Omaha, Nebraska
August 9th, 2019

Answering to a higher calling, Omaha fans nearly sold out The Waiting Room for another TDWP’s return to Omaha. The band took time away from their current touring slot with In This Moment for a one-off headlining set. Its been a few years since TDWP’s No Sun / No Moon tour passed through on the Mayhem Tour, close to 12 years since the band’s Omaha debut, and the fans were rabid for the band’s return.
For over and hour, the metalcore quintet from Dayton, Ohio thrashed through a blistering 15 song set that touched on a track from most of their releases. I have to give props to these guys for playing a variety of cuts from their lengthy musical career. A lot of bands currently touring focus solely one or two eras of their music, yet The Devil Wears Prada chooses to focus on their music as a whole, and respects that their fans want to hear them perform music from throughout their history.
The band also premiered three new songs; “Switchblade”, “Lines of Your Hands”, and “Please Say No”. As much as I wanted to hear cuts from the “Zombie” EP, “Dead Throne”, and “With Roots Above and Branches Below”, I was most excited to hear the new music the band would hopefully be playing.
The band is rumored to be putting the finishing touches on the follow up to their 2016 release, Transit Blues. No word yet as to whether or not the new songs will make find a place on the album, unofficially confirmed to be titled “The Act”, but it sounds like “Lines of Your Hands” will be the lead single and is set to be released on August 27th. Regardless, these new songs are banger in a live setting.
Even without knowing the band’s new music, the swarming circle pits that took up The Waiting Room were relentless. The band’s message transcends what normally comes out of a hard core metal show, and their fans, old and new, embrace their message of unity and acceptance. There’s a brilliance and beauty to be found in their brutal stage show.
There’s one thing for certain; The Devil Wears Prada knows how to work their fans into a frenzy. It doesn’t matter if they’re playing at 3pm during a festival, opening for a theater tour, or headlining their own gig, you will be hard pressed to find a band as energetic and as passionate as The Devils Wears Prada are.
