Georgi Kay – Where I Go to Disappear
(Monoki Records)
First Listen at Ladygunn
Georgi Kay, the stage name of the UK-born Georgina Kingsley, has been playing in bands since her early teens, but it wasn’t until she lost (or won, depending on your perspective) a game of pick-up sticks meant to select her high school band’s new lead singer that she discovered that she could sing.
In the time since, she’s won songwriting awards in Australia, acted in the Sundance Channel series “Top Of The Lake” alongside Elisabeth Moss, and received an ARIA, multiple APRA awards and Grammy nomination for the dance song “In My Mind”, a collaboration with Aussie DJs Feenixpawl and Ivan Gough – later remixed by Axwell of Swedish House Mafia. The song made its resurgence in 2018 with Lithuanian DJ Dynoro’s remix, skyrocketing the total streams of the EDM anthem to over half a billion.
Georgi has toured with the likes of Ed Sheeran, INXS, Tash Sultana and Peter, Bjorn & John, but with her debut album Where I Go To Disappear, which she’s releasing on her own independent record label, she’s preparing to have more eyes and ears on her than ever before.
