Maynard Calls Out Members of TOOL For Not Finishing New Album’s Music

Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan took a portion of the band’s Northern Invasion performance to beg fellow bandmates to finish recording the music for the band’s upcoming release. Addressing the crowd, Keenan explained his choice of wearing Police Riot Gear during TOOL’s headlining set for the 2nd day of the festival’s fourth year.

“A lot of people recently have been asking me, Maynard James Keenan, what’s with the fucking riot gear? Well, I’ll tell you. I’m afraid of bananas, and other forms of fruit, because eventually you wonderful people are going to run out of fucking patience. So I beg you – Danny, Adam, and Justin, please finish your parts so I can finish mine. So I can take off this fucking riot gear.”
Keenan has confirmed in multiple interviews that he has completed the lyrics for TOOL’s upcoming as-yet-untitled release. As of the band’s Tool Clinic Tour, Keenan is waiting to record vocals once all guitar and bass tracks are finalized and recorded.
At the Minneapolis Clinic on May 11th, the band stated that Keenan works around the final music and has never asked for the music to be changed.
The band’s Minneapolis Clinic also highlighted their first new music since 2006’s “10,000 Days” release. The transition piece featured Danny Carey on synth and drums. Carey later told the audience that the piece would be on the band’s next album.
