Music. Art. Inspiration. Go Cedar Rapids announces newbo evolve Festival

I want to grow. I want to be better. You grow. We all grow. We’re made to grow. You either evolve or you disappear. ~Tupac Shakur

newbo evolve is a multi-faceted festival in Cedar Rapids, Aug. 3-5, that celebrates the creative Bohemian spirit through music, art, fashion, dance, food, and technology.

Along with national headlining concerts from Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson, attendees can dig deeper into areas of creative interest with heart-warming sessions that speak to their soul, adventurous activities to challenge their bodies and clever classes, demonstrations and performances to engage their minds — all led by nationally-known celebrity talent: including Clint Harp, Carson Kressley, Alexis Ohanian, Christian Siriano and John Waters. The NewBo District will come alive with artistic installations, a design garden and the Cedar Screamer Zip Line over the Cedar River — all anchored by a unique festival lounge and gathering space. Go Cedar Rapids’ newbo evolve Festival will embrace “the creative Bohemian spirit through music, fashion, dance, food and technology” with a variety of musical and celebrity talents slated to entertain and inform during the festival’s run.
The truly inspiring aspect of this event though is that it has the potential to rival the likes of TED Talks and SXSW. newbo evolve won’t just be a few folding chairs scattered throughout the middle of a cornfield in rural Iowa with easily forgettable guests doing their best to hold the audiences attention. The collaborators behind newbo evolve, Go Cedar Rapids, are pulling out all the stops and have landed some of the biggest names in the fashion and entertainment industry.

Straight off of NBC’s The Voice, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine’s Maroon 5 will be the musical guests headlining the 3 day event. Throughout the weekend, special events will be held across downtown Cedar Rapids. Confirmed guests include Carson Kressley of Queer Eye For the Straight Guy, fashion designer Christian Siriano, HGTV Fixer Upper Clint Harp, and director/screen writer John Waters. Definitely not the sort of line-up you’d expect for a first time event in Iowa.talent_together
Go Cedar Rapids, who’s job is to promote the City of Five Seasons, is risking a lot with this endeavor. Like Mark Zuckerberg said though, “The biggest risk is not taking any risk.”
Set to run August 3rd through the 5th, the three day festival passes cost $375 and are on sale now at newboevolve.com and Ticketmaster.com.img_2391
