The true inventors of Red Dirt Metal, Texas outlaw quartet TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION, are pleased to reveal another brand new track cut from their upcoming release Dark Side Of Black, out April 22 via Carved Records. The song appears as track one on the new album and is available for streaming right now via Guitar World. While listening, read an in-depth interview with vocalist Big Dad Ritch.
When asked by Guitar World what the significance of the album’s title is, vocalist Big Dad Ritch stated, “There are a lot of people who will work hard at blacking out your light, as opposed to working on making their own light bright. I feel I represent a mighty powerful bright light, but I also feel that when push comes to shove, the darkness I have hidden behind my light is ready to blacken all that holds color. When this happens, I cannot control my dark side. You see, there is always someone who has a darker side and I am the Dark Side of Black…”
Colorado THC fans should brace themselves for the band’s upcoming album release party and performance at Herman’s Hideaway in Denver, CO, taking place on April 23rd. It’s no secret that the show will celebrate the 4/20 holiday and that special plant the band holds dear, so in preparation for the show, premier local rock station 106.7 KBPI FM will premiere the band’s weed-friendly track “Knee Deep” on April 20th during “Your Morning Show” with host Willie B. The show airs from 6-10am U.S. mountain time and can be streamed live worldwide here.
The newly-explored heavy side of TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION is evident throughout Dark Side of Black, which embraces the band’s southern roots while exploring a murky, groovier feel – not straying too far from THC‘s tried and true brand of rugged outlaw rock.
Pre-orders for Dark Side of Black are available now via iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.Dark Side of Black was recorded at Boot Hill Studio in Corinth, TX and Valve Studios in Dallas, TX with producer Sterling Winfield (Pantera, Hellyeah, Damageplan).
