Northern Invasion Artist Spotlight: City of the Weak

These young, energetic, Minneapolis-based rockers haven’t slowed down since the release of their sophomore EP Disclosure in April 2014.

Thankfully Stef w/ an F, CotW’s vocalist and ringleader, took the time to answer a few questions about the band’s upcoming set at Northern Invasion 2016.

As a fan, which bands are you planning to see during Northern Invasion’s 2016 two day festival?
There are so many great bands that we can’t wait to see! A few of us grew up listening to Korn & Disturbed, so definitely those two. Also very excited for Bring Me The Horizon – their new album rocks! And of course one of our all time favorites, Butcher Babies- we’ve played with them a few times and have become friends- they are great people and their live show is unbelievable.
Knowing that 2015’s one day festival sold out, what expectations do you have for the 2016 crowds?
Two of our members actually were part of the crew last year, so they helped with everything from sound to building the actual stages. They said 2015 was wild as fuck, so we expect a great time! Wisconsin ALWAYS brings the party so we can’t wait!!
Playing to such a massive crowd, some of whom may not be familiar with your music, how will you alter your festival set to make sure that the fans know your band’s name when you’re finished playing?
Festivals are definitely our strong point, especially in Wisconsin. Everyone there is such a big family, and it’s all about creating an experience for them. We like to jump around and will give the crowd an unforgettable experience with our music and live show!

Produced by Eric Labrosse of Cherry Pit Studios, Disclosure features five compelling, well-written songs that are not only radio-ready, but showcase all of their talents to the highest degree. City of the Weak spent most of 2014 & 2015 on the road in support of Disclosure, playing 200 shows and snagging 14 sponsorship deals. While touring across the continental U.S. the band has hit major markets from New York to Los Angeles, including performances on Vans Warped Tour, The All-Stars Tour, South By So What?!, Rock Fest (Cadott, WI), and EMG TV. After receiving over 470,000 views from their first three music videos, City of the Weak premiered The Blame Game August 2015 on VEVO & Absolute Punk.

City of the Weak captures a modern rock ‘n roll sound that is so perfectly defined, combining catchy pop melodies with rhythmic riffs and moving bass lines to create a genre of their own. They are best known for their intensity on stage, as well as their big personalities off the stage. Their next performance will be May 15, 2016 at Northern Invasion, featuring Disturbed, Korn, Rob Zombie + more.
