THE TREWS ANNOUNCE U.S. TOUR ANCHORED BY

APPEARANCE ON ROCK BOAT CRUISE

Run Begins January 19 At Boston’s The Middle East Upstairs

Toronto, Ontario — The Trews have announced a run of dates in the U.S. which begin January 19th at Boston’s The Middle East Upstairs.  Anchored by an appearance on the Rock Boat Cruise, the band will stage shows down the Eastern seaboard, and then hit cities that include Nashville, Louisville and Cleveland as they head back North to their native Canada.  With an aim to exponentially increase their success in territories that have regularly issued their albums which include America, the U.K,, Germany and Australia, The Trews plan on spending more time on the ground where fan bases currently exist.  Guitarist John-Angus MacDonald reflects, “It’s been great to experience success in our homeland. It doesn’t happen for everyone and we’re grateful and proud of what we’ve achieved. Having not risen to the same heights in the States keeps us humble and striving for bigger and better things. That being said, some of our best fans (and best shows) are in America. We count Buffalo and Detroit among our strongest markets. We’ve also had many excellent shows all through upstate New York and over into the Midwest. There’s lots left to do but the good thing is we’re building on a strong foundation.”  Bassist Jack Syperek adds, “We’re like the Canadian Kinks, all at once hard rock and vulnerable, except we are from that mystical land called Canada.  We are eager to burst onto someone else’s scene.”

The Trews have released five consecutive Top Ten selling studio albums which include House of Ill Fame (2003, Certified Gold), Den of Thieves (2005 – Certified Gold), No Time for Later (2008), Hope & Ruin (2011), and The Trews (2014).  The live albums House of Ill Fame – The Live Cut (2004) and Acoustic – Friends & Total Strangers (2009) round out the band’s discography.  To date, sixteen of the band’s singles have charted Top Ten in their native Canada. This past summer, Gavin Maguire took over for Sean Dalton on drums.

Vocalist Colin MacDonald shares, “Our music is raw and honest, but still fun and catchy.  We’re an unpretentious band for the every man. We don’t take ourselves seriously but we are serious about our craft.”  MacDonald adds, “Our music is good time rock ‘n ‘roll with a bit of heart and soul (and some brains). We’re defined by our hard work ethic, good live show and clever songwriting. Themes include heartbreak and heartache, death and life as well as some socially conscious themes such as gun control, support for the troops and the culture of fear.”

The band recently announced a deluxe re-issue of the band’s Friends & Total Strangers Live Acoustic title on November 27 in Canada.  That offering will be available in the U.S digitally prior to the tour.
