The Chemical Brothers Announced As Headline Performers At

HARD Summer Music Festival In Southern California

The Chemical Brothers’ first studio album in five years, Born In The Echoes, will be released on Friday, July 17, via Astralwerks in the U.S. True to form, the four-time GRAMMY® winners masterfully weave elements of alternative, electronic, rock and psychedelia to create the kind of music that both headphones and stadiums were made for, music that inspires both introspection and a sense of community. On the dark, powerful and emotional Born In The Echoes, the influential U.K. based duo – comprising Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons – push their music as far as it will go, obliterating genre boundaries as they have from the start, beginning with 1995’s Exit Planet Dust.

A stellar cast of collaborators joined The Chemical Brothers on the new album, including previous guests Q-Tip (“Go” – a track that will be accompanied by a video directed by Michel Gondry) and Ali Love (“EML Ritual”) as well as first time visitors to the studio – St. Vincent (“Under Neon Lights”), Cate Le Bon (“Born In The Echoes”) and Beck (“Wide Open” – his first new music since his GRAMMY-winning albumMorning Phase). In each case, the vocals are assimilated into the music, helping to create music that’s uniquely that of The Chemical Brothers at their peerless best – an unmistakable sound that recently saw the duo win the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection. See below for track listing.

The Chemical Brothers will take their incomparable, hallucinogenic live show on the road this summer. Festival headline performances include Sonar, Glastonbury, Bestival and the just-announced HARD Summer Music Festival at Fairplex Southern California, where they will perform on August 1.

Born In The Echoes is The Chemical Brothers’ eighth studio album and first since 2010’s Further, which was nominated for a GRAMMY and included the single “Swoon.” In the years between the two studio albums, The Chemical Brothers composed the award-winning original score for the 2011 film Hanna and released 2012’s GRAMMY-nominated Don’t Think, a live album and concert film that Rolling Stone hailed as “exhilarating…a triumph.” The duo alsocollaborated with Lorde and Miguel on “This is Not a Game,” the lead single from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay soundtrack.

The Chemical Brothers have sold 12 million albums and six million singles worldwide. They have had five No. 1 albums in the U.K. and been nominated for several BRIT awards. The Chemical Brothers were the first electronic act ever to receive a GRAMMY, winning in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category for “Block Rockin’ Beats.” The song, which appeared on 1997’s RIAA Gold-certified album Dig Your Own Hole, was the first track by an electronic artist to chart at Alternative radio, whereThe Chemical Brothers have continued to receive strong support. 2005’s “Galvanize” featuring Q-Tip took the GRAMMY for Best Dance Recording while the albums Push the Button (2005) and We Are the Night (2007) won in the Best Electronic/Dance Album category.
