AMC Confirms Title For The Walking Dead Companion Series

This summer, AMC is launching the companion series to its most popular series, “The Walking Dead,” and we finally know its name.

“IT’S OFFICIAL! The walking dead companion show on AMC is called FEAR THE WALKING DEAD! Expect more news very soon! .” Creator Robert Kirkman revealed today via his official Twitter; @robertkirkman.
Previously, the show went by the codename “Cobalt.” “Fear the Walking Dead” has already been confirmed for two seasons. Plot details are scarce but IMDB describes the show as “A family struggle for survival during a zombie apocalypse.” Production of the pilot episode began in early 2015 and ended on February 6, 2015.

Unlike the original series, which takes place on the East Coast, the new series will be set in Los Angeles. The series will star Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.
Set in Los Angeles but shot in Vancouver, Fear The Walking Dead focuses on new characters and storylines. Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey star. Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert from The Walking Dead are executive producing for AMC Studios. Dave Erickson, who co-created and co-wrote the pilot with Kirkman, is an executive producer and showrunner. Adam Davidson directed the pilot episode.

“We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show on television. From the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, we’ve been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did ‘turn.’ Through this new series, we’re going to find out,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president. “We respectfully follow the request of Monty Python as we bring out (the latest of) our Dead.”
AMC Global, the international AMC-branded television network, has acquired the international television rights to the series, which it plans to air within 24 hours of the U.S. premiere. (The Walking Dead is being carried by the Fox International Channels outside of the U.S.) AMC Global launched in late 2014 and is available in over 115 countries and territories throughout Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Season one of Fear The Walking Dead will also comprise of six one-hour episodes, and will debut on AMC this summer, with season 2 following summer of 2016. The first trailer for the companion series will debut after the 90-minute finale of “The Walking Dead” Sunday evening, most likely during the season finale of The Talking Dead.
