Spike; Me First and the Gimme Gimmes

Lonnie; First off thank you so much for your time. I know you guys are getting ready for Riot Fest so I will keep these short and sweet.
You guys have been pumping out amazing covers since the 90’s how do you go about picking out the songs you are going to do for albums? Is it picking a theme and then your favorite songs in that theme or is it just a brainstorming process?
Spike; First we pick an idiotic theme to narrow the field somewhat, and give our crack team of stylists a direction to go in. Then we listen to literally every song even remotely associated with said theme. Then we rehearse the ones the band (Mike) likes and voila’, 6 or 7 years later, we emerge from the studio with a steaming pile of quality.

Lonnie; Playing with amazing talents as you get to do, does it ever get intimidating to play with people you have looked up too as a musicians?
Spike; Why am I the one looking up?

Lonnie; How have you learned is the best way to manage your schedule being in a number of different bands?
Spike; It’s like trying to herd cats.

Lonnie; Releasing your first album in the late 90’s to the last one this year, has your writing or recording process changed at all?
Spike; We have learned to embrace our hack-dom.

Lonnie; I know its like picking your Favor Child but as of all the songs you have recorded over the years what so do you enjoy playing the most live and which ones do you cringe every time you see it on the set list?
Spike; I cringe most when Mike starts talking to the crowd.

Lonnie; Is there any plans on a Me First tour anytime soon or do your other bands keep you busy touring and recording?
Spike; We still tour now and then, but yes, our other projects and jobs keep us very busy.

Lonnie; And last question and thank you so much for your time. I’m looking forward to seeing you at Riot Fest
When people leave from seeing you guys at Riot Fest what do you want them to feel?
Spike; Confused… Ashamed… Thwarted… Helpless…

Thank you so much and enjoy the mid-west
