*EDITED* Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Reveals More About Band’s 5th Album

August 1st was the day that so many of us had been waiting for. After weeks of teaser videos, Slipknot finally allowed their Maggots to stream the band’s first new music in nearly 6 years. “The Negative One-” heralded back to the band’s “Iowa” days and gives so many of us hope for a return to the more brutal sound that first introduced the world to the 9 masked men from Des Moines, Iowa. The track is also the first music to be released by the band since the death of bassist and founder Paul Grey, and the departure of founder and drummer Joey Jordison.

I sent Taylor a text as soon as I finished my first listen of “The Negative One-” and welcomed him back to the mask.
“…thank you sir! The response has been awesome,” Taylor replied. “And that’s just one song- 13 more coming…”
“The Negative One-” is a taste of what’s to come. Taylor then elaborated a bit for me. “That’s not even the real single! That’s coming August 26th!”
Slipknot’s 5th full length release is set to drop around the time of Knotfest, around Halloween of this year. My guess would be October 21st or 28th.

*In the original post, Adam mistakenly put August 6th instead of August 26th as the date for the first single’s release. The first single drops August 26th.*
