Steve     Gunn‘s recent album for Paradise     of Bachelors, Time Off,     has been recognized as one of the best albums of 2013 by The Washington Post, Uncut, Aquarium Drunkard, The     Wire, and Other Music, amongst others. As Gunn’s first eponymous album     with a full band, Time Off harnesses a core trio format to launch     his compositions into new, luminous strata. Here, Gunn the guitarist (and     sometime Kurt Vile sideman) masterfully deploys the discursive,     deconstructed blues style, at once transcendent and methodical, that has     become his signature. This is Gunn at the top of his game, utterly unique     but steeped in traditions both vernacular and avant-garde. Jump in and stream     Time Off on Spotify HERE and catch Gunn opening     for Kurt in a city near you! In addition to the run of dates with Kurt,     Steve has just announced an August tour, which includes performances at Pickathon, Woodsist Festival,     Transfigurations II, and more dates throughout the West Coast.

Steve also has a collaborative album with Mike Cooper, called Cantos     De Lisboa, planned for release on June 24th via RVNG INTL‘s     incredible FRKWYS series. Visit HERE for more information and Cantos De Lisboa pre-order.

“As contemporary songwriters surf rivers     of blood, sweat and tears, hoping the world will take notice, this     Brooklynite plays circular folk songs that unfold as effortlessly as a     breath. The fact that he’s making no special bid to be heard means we might     want to listen especially close.”

The     Washington Post [#10 Album of the Year]

Time Off is Gunn’s finest work     yet. It’s one of the year’s most powerful folk-rock statements.”

Village Voice

“Gunn is blessed with a voice as warm and     rich as Tim Buckley or a young Van Morrison. Cycling riffs build a     self-sustaining momentum, immersing the listener in a private river of     sound.” — The Wire

“A collection of six loose,     spiraling guitar songs that give more than they ask. Generous compositions,     gently presented.” — Pitchfork

“His tunes unfurl like bales of wire rolling     down country roads.” — Uncut

“In the John Fahey-inspired,     post-Jack Rose world of American-primitive-folk-meets-blues-meets-raga-meets-noise     music, Gunn is quite simply the best.” — The FADER
