Erasure’s Andy Bell hits the road solo for the first time in North America

While his super-popular band with Vince Clarke Erasure works on a new album, the always fabulous Andy Bell is hitting the road solo in North America this Fall. Kicking off October 3rd, he’ll be circling the continent in support of his album Ten Crowns which was released earlier this year.

Leaning a bit more toward dance/disco than the synthpop underpinnings of Erasure, Bell’s solo music is less New Wave Pop and more Ibiza. “Breaking Thru the Interstellar” has all the peaks and valleys you’d expect at underground dance parties across NYC. Celebratory and epic with soaring synths and a thumping bassline, it’s not as soulful as his songs with Clarke but no less infectious.

The percussive “For Today” brings him closer to what you’d expect from Bell. Sounding like an outtake from the Wild! album, it’s a minor chord anthem that is a highlight of the album. The closest he comes to his Erasure roots is the propulsive and twinkly pop ditty “Doncha Know,” a pop ditty that showcases his emotive vocals perfectly.

Assuredly, the setlist will consist not only of tracks from Ten Crowns but also classic Erasure tracks as well. All I know is that he better have “Drama!” on the setlist!
