Tonight was no ordinary night for one of Omaha’s newest venues. “The Metal Crushes All Tour” would stomp its way onto Steelhouse’s stage and give the venue its first taste of authentic Death Metal. Tonight’s show was poised to deliver an electrifying onslaught of heavy metal mayhem, showcasing four of the best bands in the genre.
Newcomers Frozen Soul opened the show with their unique brand of Texas Death Metal which included a swirling circle pit surrounding a game of Magic the Gathering.
While not my first time seeing Obituary on stage, I gained a new level of respect for their signature blend of death metal and groove. The veteran headbangers created a crushing sonic experience, drawing fans into a swirling vortex of moshing madness.
My bucket-list performance of the evening was Cannibal Corpse. I’ve waited nearly 25 years for the chance to experience their brutal intensity for myself, and the band took no prisoners. For nearly 45 minutes they unleashed a barrage of ferocious riffs and guttural vocals that left the crowd in awe of their raw power.
Amon Amarth’s Viking-themed spectacle once again set the stage on fire with their epic melodies and thunderous rhythms. The Norwegian Gods of Heavy Metal transported a nearly sold-out audience to the battlefields of Norse mythology. Omaha was treated to a Viking battle on stage, the opportunity to row a longboat, and a visit from the fabled horned God of mischief, Loki.
Together, these three titans of metal created an unforgettable night of headbanging, moshing, and pure adrenaline-fueled chaos. “The Metal Crushes All Tour” is a must-see for any metalhead craving an evening of unbridled aggression and sonic ecstasy.
