CLEVELAND – Author/journalist/Cleveland shock jock Chris Akin has lined up a series of speaking engagements centered on his new book, LITTLE VICTORIES: A TALE OF DIVORCE, DEBAUCHERY AND FINDING HAPPINESS. LITTLE VICTORIES is a memoir that documents Akin’s year-long journey which began with a shattering divorce and ended in a personal rebirth. Each of Akin’s appearances will focus on the elements of the book and the personal growth that resulted from this trying period.
“The idea of doing some appearances to promote LITTLE VICTORIES just seemed like a natural fit for me,” said Akin. “While I have had nothing but good response from people stating how the book helped them change their own views toward divorce and depression, it’s good to get out there and reach people that might not otherwise know me, my radio show or my past. This just seems like the next step.” Scheduled appearances:
Thursday, March 20 – 7-9 p.m. Visible Voice Books 1023 Kenilworth Cleveland, OH 44113
This event will feature a reading from LITTLE VICTORIES, a reading of material that didn’t make it into LITTLE VICTORIES, and a Q&A session. The Q&A will be run by Matt Wardlaw, Akin’s former partner on THE METAL SHOW on WMMS and current staffer at ULTIMATE CLASSIC ROCK.
Saturday, April 19 – 4-6 p.m. Anthony’s Men Salon 2681 Creekside Road Twinsburg, OH 44087
This event will include a trio of media personalities: Matt Wardlaw (radio/online/print), Joe Kleon (print/photography/radio), and Akin. Each will discuss various projects, showcase some work from each, and include Q&A in the hipster/cultural hangout that offers a whiskey or beer with your haircut or shave.
Saturday, June 21 – 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friends of Hiram College Library Annual Book Festival Hiram College 11694 Hayden Street Hiram, OH 44234
Akin will take part in this annual festival, presenting a reading from LITTLE VICTORIES, and selling and signing books.
“This book is out there to hopefully help people understand that it’s OK to lose their own infallible facade, and share their real emotional truths with their friends and family,” Akin said. “Doing anything other than that results in unnecessary stress and baggage, as well as not allowing people to truly get past their pain. LITTLE VICTORIES is designed to show that even the biggest of ‘machismo’ personalities can only be strengthened by allowing honesty and emotional weakness to play itself out.”
